The episodes follow Helen from her birth to her marriage to King Menelaus. The series is directed by Hironobu Sakaguchi, with a screenplay written by Katsuhiko Takayama and music composed by Yuki Kajiura. The episodes premiered on WOWOW on October 3, 2005 and ran weekly until December 24, 2005. It was licensed in North America by Geneon USA in 2006; however, the license was subsequently dropped in 2008 after Geneon's shutdown affecting other titles in their catalog. The series is viewable on Crunchyroll, who holds the license to the series. The series aired weekly from January 8 to March 2 on TV Tokyo, and later aired weekly from April 10 to June 12 on BS-i. In the United Kingdom, it was released by MVM Films who has previously released titles such as Ayaka and Blue Drop. It was released under their Anime-On-Line arm along with the other Geneon licenses that were dropped before they went into administration. It was also licensed in Australia by Madman Entertainment who have subsequently re-licensed the series once again after Geneon folded into their larger parent company NBC Universal Entertainment Japan in 2009.
